The Bagijnet Tower in the city of Delft, in the Dutch province of South Holland, was originally built as a watchtower and was part of the strengthening of the city walls of Delft. The city of Delft acquired city rights on April 15, 1246 and thus acquired the right to build a wall around the city. The Bagijnet Tower is a later addition to the defenses that was probably built around 1500.

Dutch Bagijnetoren
De Bagijnetoren in de stad Delft, in de Nederlandse provincie Zuid-Holland, werd oorspronkelijk gebouwd als uitkijktoren en was onderdeel van de versterking van de stadsmuren van Delft. De stad Delft verkreeg op 15 april 1246 stadsrechten en verwierf daarmee ook het recht om een muur rondom de stad te bouwen. De Bagijnetoren is een latere toevoeging aan de verdedigingswerken die waarschijnlijk rond het jaar 1500 is gebouwd.

This lookout tower was built circa 1500, and is today preserved as a state monument (Rijksmonument). The back of the tower was set against the old defensive city wall which was built of earth and bordered by a canal. Both the wall and the canal are now gone leaving only the tower.
