A bowl barrow is a type of burial mound or tumulus. A barrow is a mound of earth used to cover a tomb. The bowl barrow gets its name from its resemblance to an upturned bowl. Related terms include cairn circle, cairn ring, howe, kerb cairn, tump and rotunda grave.

Spanish Túmulo en cuenco

Túmulo en cuenco es el nombre de un tipo de montículo funerario o túmulo.[1]​ Un túmulo es un montículo de tierra utilizada para cubrir una tumba. El túmulo en cuenco recibe su nombre del hecho de que se parezca a este recipiente invertido. En Gran Bretaña los túmulos en cuenco fueron creados a partir del comienzo del Neolítico y llegaron hasta el final de la Edad del Bronce. En Gales reciben, en algunas ocasiones, el nombre de tump, derivado del gaélico.

Se conocen entre 16 000 y 20 000 túmulos redondos en Gran Bretaña, si bien no hay consenso en cuántos de ellos se pueden categorizar como túmulos en cuenco.[2]​[3]​

Si bien los cairns circulares o los redondeandos pueden confundirse inicialmente en su forma se consideran construcciones distintas[4]​[5]​ Tampoco deben confundirse con los túmulos en campana o disco, con los que se agrupan en el término túmulos redondeados.[1]​

Russian Чашевидный курган

Чашевидный курган — тип круглого кургана, впервые описанный историком Джоном Тёрнемом (en:John Thurnam). Был распространён в период неолита и бронзового века на Британских островах. Обычно это почти полукруглый (при виде сбоку) курган, включающий одно или несколько погребений (путём трупоположения или трупосожжения). Если подобный курган сложен полностью из камня, то вместо слова «курган» употребляется термин каирн. Курган может представлять собой массу земли или камня, но может иметь и более сложную конструкцию — состоять из концентрических кругов свай, низких каменных стен или вертикальных каменных плит. В дополнение, курган может быть окружён рядом камней или деревянных свай.
