English Grosse Point Light

The historic Grosse Point Light is located in Evanston, Illinois. Following several shipping disasters near Evanston, residents successfully lobbied the federal government for a lighthouse. Construction was completed in 1873. The lighthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 8, 1976. On 20 January 1999, the lighthouse was designated a National Historic Landmark. It is maintained under the jurisdiction of the Evanston Lighthouse Park District, an independent taxing authority.

French Phare de Grosse Point

Le phare de Grosse Point (en anglais : Grosse Point Light), est un phare situé à Evanston sur le lac Michigan dans l'État de l'Illinois aux États-Unis.

Il est inscrit au Registre national des lieux historiques depuis le 8 septembre 1976 sous le n° 76000707 et déclaré National Historic Landmark dans l'Illinois depuis le 20 janvier 1999.

Built in 1873. Learn about the Fresnel lens in the tower and the ships that wrecked in the nearby shallow waters on a tour of the museum in the former keepers’ quarters (June through September on Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 2, 3, and 4PM).
