Teatro Biobío, also known as Teatro Regional del Biobío, is a theatre located in the Chilean city of Concepción, inaugurated on March 7, 2018 by the then President of the Republic, Michelle Bachelet.
The building was designed by Chilean architect Smiljan Radic Clarke, Eduardo Castillo and Gabriela Medrano, [2] and built by Radic and Constructora Echeverría Izquierro. [1] Prior to its construction, other theater projects had been designed to be located on the same northern bank of the Biobío River. Since 1994 and for several years, the project called Teatro Pencopolitano was defended, which was finally not carried out due to lack of funding.

El Teatro Biobío, también conocido como Teatro Regional del Biobío, es un teatro ubicado en la ciudad chilena de Concepción, inaugurado el 7 de marzo de 2018 por la entonces presidenta de la República, Michelle Bachelet.
El edificio fue diseñado por el arquitecto chileno Smiljan Radic Clarke, Eduardo Castillo y Gabriela Medrano,[2] y construido por Radic y la Constructora Echeverría Izquierdo.[1] Previo a su construcción, otros proyectos de teatro se habían pensado para emplazarse en la misma ribera norte del río Biobío. Desde 1994 y durante varios años, se defendió el proyecto denominado Teatro Pencopolitano, el cual finalmente no se llevó a cabo por falta de financiamiento.
